You Have the Power! New He-Man: Dragon Pearl of Destruction Game Unleashed!
Great news, Eternians! A brand-new Masters of the Universe video game is officially on its way, and it’s a dream come true for fans of the classic ’80s cartoon.Mattel has partnered with Limited Run Games to announce He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, a retro-inspired 2D brawler. The title was unveiled at gamescom 2025 and is set to launch in early 2026.
Get ready to save Eternia all over again! This game lets you play as fan-favorite heroes like He-Man, Teela, and Man-At-Arms as you battle against the forces of Skeletor and Evil-Lyn. A rumor is even circulating that fan-favorite She-Ra may be a playable character! You’ll fight your way through 12 diverse stages across Eternia, with He-Man’s fearless feline companion, Battle Cat, also joining the fray!

The Ultimate Retro Brawler
Bitmap Bureau, the acclaimed UK studio behind hits like Terminator 2D: No Fate, is developing this new title. The studio is crafting the game as a “love letter” to longtime fans. The game features hard-hitting, arcade-style gameplay with hand-crafted combat and stunning, large pixel sprites. The developers’ goal is to blend nostalgic visuals with fast-paced, modern gameplay to create an experience that feels both familiar and fresh.
The art is based on the original ’80s cartoon, so you needn’t worry about the style aping the CG reboots. As is Bitmap Bureau’s specialty, this game looks like it could have stepped out of an arcade in the early ’90s. The game also uses technical effects like sprite scaling, similar to classics like TMNT: Turtles in Time.

Epic Stages and Legendary Cast
The game isn’t just a simple beat ’em up; it comes packed with features to make you feel like you truly have the power. You can unleash massive magical attacks and awesome special moves to crush your foes. Furthermore, you can work to stop Skeletor’s ancient ritual that threatens to plunge Eternia into darkness. The developers have included deep-cut characters from MOTU lore, such as the majestic dragon Granamyr, the feral Shadow Beasts, and the pale witch Shokoti.
The combat subscribes to the rules of Final Fight, but with more buttons. You have light and heavy attacks, a block command, and a throw mechanic. Be careful with He-Man’s throw, though—he tosses his sword, and you are powerless until his blade returns. The game also features specific locations from the show, like the Royal Palace of Eternia, where you’ll eventually battle the villain Trapjaw in the Throne Room.

A Dream Come True for Fans
Limited Run Games CEO Josh Fairhurst expressed his excitement, calling it “the Masters of the Universe arcade game I yearned for as a child.” His passion for the franchise is clear, as the game looks to be an authentic tribute to the iconic ’80s cartoon.
Physical pre-orders are expected to open in early 2026, so get ready to add this one to your collection. He-Man World be keeping a close eye on this and will provide more updates as they become available.
