Following the massive theatrical release of the new Masters of the Universe movie on June 5th, Mattel isn’t just celebrating at the box office—they’re paying it forward. This week, the toy giant officially marked its sixth annual Play It Forward Global Volunteer Week and third annual International Day of Play, rolling out major charitable initiatives that give MOTU fans a direct way to give back this summer.

The Power of Grayskull Meets the Power of Giving
To celebrate the new film, Mattel has teamed up with global humanitarian organization Save the Children, alongside Amazon and Amazon MGM Studios.
As part of a summer-long public service campaign, they have launched a charitable Amazon Wish List program. This allows Eternian fans and consumers alike to purchase and donate Mattel toys directly to underserved children. Mattel employees are also backing the initiative by jumping into Amazon’s Global Volunteer Month, with opportunities to support Save the Children via toy and financial donations running all summer long.

“Play is one of the most powerful ways children build confidence, creativity, and meaningful connections,” said Nancy Molenda, Mattel’s VP of Global Corporate Events and Philanthropy. “We’re proud to see our global teams unite around this shared commitment to making a positive impact.”

Camp Mattel & Global Outreach
The MOTU campaign is just one piece of Mattel’s massive global push this month. At their headquarters in El Segundo, California, the company hosted Camp Mattel, welcoming around 700 children from local elementary schools and community organizations (including the Children’s Institute of L.A. and the Friendship Foundation) for a massive day of games, imagination, and a soccer clinic hosted alongside the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC).
The impact was recognized locally, too, with L.A. County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell attending, and the City of El Segundo officially proclaiming June 11 as the International Day of Play.

Inclusivity in the Toy Aisle
Mattel also used the week to champion inclusive play by debuting the Hot Wheels® All Drivers Welcome assortment. Developed alongside incredible nonprofits like the Braille Institute, Easterseals Disability Services, and the Starlight Children’s Foundation, this unique vehicle line is designed to increase representation and celebrate diverse communities.
From building homes with Habitat for Humanity to hosting a “Summer Solstice Play-A-Thon” with Project Sunshine at the flagship Mattel Toy Store, Mattel employees worldwide have been on the ground donating time, toys, and resources to children’s hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses globally.
