McG in Talks to Direct “Masters of the Universe”

It now appears that the upcoming He-Man and the Masters of the Universe film may have found its director! Deadline reports that director McG (Terminator Salvation) is currently in negotiations to helm the movie for Sony.

The animated “He Man and the Masters of the Universe” series ran from 1983 to 1985. Cannon Films produced the 1987 “Masters of the Universe” movie, that starred Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as the evil Skeletor.

Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing, with DeVon Franklin. The He-Man script is by the writing team of Alex Litvak and Mike Finch (Predators).  The movie has gone through multiple writers, the most recent being Thor’s Christopher Yost, who came onboard in 2015. McG will oversee a rewrite of the script. McG previously launched Charlie’s Angels for Sony Pictures.
